Gold – “Hunstanton Sunset Long Exposure”

Long exposure Hunstanton GroyneHunstanton beach in west Norfolk is an excellent location for seascape photography. It is one of the few places in Norfolk where you can watch the sun set out to sea. The landscape is quite varied. From the iconic cliffs with their brightly coloured strata to the easily recognisable groynes and the almost otherworldly stones on the beach there is plenty to inspire the photographer. We will be looking at ways of using the features to create beautiful seascape images. This will also include controlling the appearance of water from clear, sharp waves to an almost misty softness. You will be learning from someone who has created international award-winning images, including some that were created at this very location.

This 2 hour seascape photography workshop will take place around sunset. The changing light makes for extra interest and challenges. It also allows longer exposures due to the lower light levels, even without using filters.

Norfolk landscape photography workshop - Hunstanton

You will need to bring your camera, ideally with a wideangle lens of 18mm or wider. A tripod is very important, especially for the long exposures so please bring one. If you can’t get hold of a tripod please let us know as soon as possible and we may be able to arrange for you to borrow one. If you have any questions about kit or skill level please do check with us before booking. A cable shutter release is very useful and these can be found for just a few pounds online. Make sure you buy the right one for your camera. There will be opportunities to work with filters on the night. If you have your own please do bring them along too.

This will be a small group with a maximum of 6 participants to ensure that everyone enjoys a quality experience and has one to one time with the tutor. To book your place please use the form below. There will be some walking along the beach to move between locations so please bear this in mind if you have any mobility issues. In the event of heavy rain we will postpone and reschedule the session. We obviously cannot guarantee what the sunset will be like. As it gets colder as the sun sets please make sure to bear this in mind when choosing your clothing. Waterproof footwear would be advisable if you want to work at the water’s edge.

There are numerous car parks at intervals along the beach. Recommended parking spots will be suggested in the email confirming final arrangements with participants.

Join us for this evening of exploring seascape photography at this stunning Norfolk beach.
