Fine Art Portrait Photography Training - sample image 1

Taking inspiration from classical portrait paintings we will create our own artistic portraits from start to finish on this fine art portrait photography training day. We will start off working with a quality model. You’ll have the opportunity to get hands on with the lighting and learn how to create the look you want. We will also consider how to pose our subject and choosing backdrops.

In the afternoon we will look at a variety of retouching techniques to polish off our images. This will include aspects of skin retouching, hair retouching, creative use of blur and how to incorporate texture layers in Photoshop for that old painting on canvas feel.

You don’t need to have previous experience with studio lighting or portrait photography to take part in this photography workshop. Guidance will be provided at each stage. It would help if you have already used Photoshop and Lightroom before as we will cover quite a few techniques fairly quickly.

You will need a camera with a hotshoe for attaching a flash trigger (such as DSLR or mirrorless system camera). Lighting and modifiers will be provided. Please bring a laptop with Lightroom and Photoshop already installed.

If you have any concerns about the suitability of your level of photography or your kit please do get in touch before booking.

Hot and cold drinks will be provided. You will need to bring your own lunch or buy something locally. There is free parking available. The group will be restricted to just 3 participants to enable everyone to have plenty of shooting time.
