Film Noir Photography Workshop
Is he a detective or a gangster? Tell your own story in film noir style with exciting dramatic lighting. In this specialist workshop we will be exploring high contrast, controlled lighting to re-create the feel of film noir. We will be shooting with the intention of converting the images to black and white. Our model on the day is a local male actor. He will help us to create images that tell a story and create intrigue and mood. Gavin is featured in the images on this page. The images here are indicative of the sort of thing we will be doing in the Film Noir photography workshop.
You will be working with various light shaping modifiers. You will learn how to control light very precisely using various snoots and grids. Some lighting setups will be very simple, using just one light. Others will be more complex with multiple flashes. Lighting equipment will be provided. Our triggers work with cameras with a standard hotshoe (Nikon, Canon). Mid range to telephoto lenses will work best. If you have any doubt about the suitability of your equipment or skill level please do contact us before booking.
The number of participants for this workshop is limited to just 3. Everyone will get plenty of shooting time as well as an opportunity to experiment with various lighting setups. Drinks will be provided. Please bring your own lunch (we will have a lunch break). Alternatively, you may wish to purchase something in one of the local shops or cafes. There is free parking available.
Add some new lighting techniques to your repertoire and produce images with real mood and story-telling content. Join us for this fun, creative film noir portraits session!
